Oscar-winning Israeli director Guy Nativ and British actress Helen Mirren were honored in Berlin last night at the prestigious gala awards night of the Cinema for Peace Foundation.
The two won the "Honorary Dove of Cinema for Peace" award for the film "Golda" directed by Nativ and starring Mirren.
The special prize was awarded for the first time this year by the foundation, against the background of the rise of anti-Semitism around the world following the events of October 7.
The award was given to the two by 101-year-old Holocaust survivor Margot Friedlander.
Among the guests at the gala in Berlin, there were also Hillary Clinton and Sharon Stone who won awards for their contribution to human rights and peace.
In his speech accepting the Peace Prize, Guy Nativ said: "After the traumatic Yom Kippur War, governments and leaders changed, and Anwar Sadat and Menachem Begin signed a historic peace agreement that spared thousands of victims. This time, too, we want to see a new Israeli and Palestinian leadership with the vision and courage to make historic peace between the two peoples." .
