2024-02-20T10:41:40.018Z

Highlights: The new Citroen C4 and C4 offer all the advantages of electric such as ease and silence of driving. But also the possibility of accessing urban areas reserved for low-emission cars - while reducing consumption by one liter per 100 km compared to equivalent petrol cars. The innovative 48 Volt MHEV system is based on a new generation 1.2 Puretech 3-cylinder petrol engine with 136 HP (100 kW) and 230 Nm of torque. The result is 107 g/km of CO2 in the WLTP mixed cycle.

Thanks to an innovative mild hybrid system (Mhev) with 48 Volt operation, they are able to offer all the advantages of electric such as ease and silence of driving.

But also the possibility of accessing urban areas reserved for low-emission cars - while reducing consumption by one liter per 100 km compared to equivalent petrol cars.

Citroen, after making its debut in the C5 Aircross at the end of 2023, is now extending the new 48 Volt Hybrid technology which - as underlined in a note - completes the high-performance petrol and diesel thermal offers to allow the customer to benefit from on-board comfort and of the typical distinctive design by choosing the propulsion that best suits your needs.

The innovative 48 Volt MHEV system is based on a new generation 1.2 Puretech 3-cylinder petrol engine with 136 HP (100 kW) and 230 Nm of torque which has been designed to specifically adapt to this new hybrid system.

In this 1.2 PureTech unit, 40% of the components are new, with tailor-made solutions for hybridization.

There is a variable geometry turbocharger and a new timing chain which contribute to its performance and improve robustness.

Compliant with the Euro 6.4 standard and operating according to the Miller cycle, this engine has also been optimized from the point of view of thermal efficiency to further reduce CO2 emissions. It is coupled to the new ë-DCS6 electrified double clutch gearbox, the heart of the system , because it integrates a 21 kW ë-Motor electric unit which allows driving with the combustion engine off and which adds approximately 12 HP and 55 Nm in certain conditions, such as acceleration and starting, to ensure superior comfort of use and performance more dynamic.

And it represents an effective and accessible solution for customers who wish to participate in the transition to electric mobility while freeing themselves from the constraints of charging on the grid.

In urban driving conditions the new Citroen C4 and C4 PureTech 130 S&S EAT8 petrol engine.

The result is 107 g/km of CO2 in the WLTP mixed cycle.

The 21 kW ë-Motor unit automatically ensures 100% electric operation of the C4 and C4 'starting.

It also acts as a charge generator for the battery during deceleration, while limiting brake wear.

Note that the small 48 Volt Lithium Ion battery - with an available capacity of 432 Wh - is installed under the left front seat, therefore without any impact on the boot volume or habitability.

Furthermore, thanks to a voltage converter, part of the electricity produced by the 48 Volt electrical unit is transformed into 12 Volts to power the car's equipment, which works with its own separate electrical network.
