The artist and photographer Ariela Shabid passed away at the age of 80. Shabid was married to the late writer and journalist Adam Baruch and she was the mother of the presenter and director Ido Rosenblum and the writer Amalia Rosenblum.

Shebid worked in the 1970s and 1980s as a photojournalist and she especially stood out in the portrait photographs of the stars of that time.



Ido and Amalia Rosenblum paid tribute to her: "Our mother, the artist Ariela Shabid, passed away today. In her last years we searched her archive and were thrilled to discover that she was one of the most prolific documentaries of the world of culture and entertainment in Israel between the Six Day War and the Yom Kippur War. She was a creative and unconventional person , people fell in love with him instantly. We had very special parents and for that we feel lucky."

Shebid was born in Kiryat Motzkin.

She studied photography in the years 1967-1968 at Israel's first school of photography, in the Tel Arza neighborhood in Jerusalem, and until the mid-1980s she worked as a photographer for various newspapers, including "Davar", "Haaretz", "Olam HaKinema", "Manishet" and "Monitin" ".



In 1996, her solo exhibition "Beauty is a promise of happiness" (curated by Leah Dobb) was presented at the Israel Museum.

In the exhibition Shavid documented her body after the mastectomy she had undergone.

In the following years, she presented the exhibition "Ajami" which dealt with the subject of the "abandoned property" that Palestinian families left behind following the War of Independence, as well as other exhibitions.
