Two brand new Porsche 911s – or would you prefer a used small car from 1984?
A very special Peugeot 205 is now being auctioned in Great Britain.
We explain what makes it so special.
Finding a cheap car isn't exactly easy at the moment - especially if you're looking for a new car.
Last year, an analysis showed that only four cars are still available for less than 15,000 euros.
Among other things, this is due to the fact that more and more manufacturers are saying goodbye to the small and small car segment.
For example, the last Ford Fiesta rolled off the assembly line in 2023, the VW Up will be taken out of the range and the Audi A1 will no longer have a successor.
The small ones used to be more popular and were often released as high-performance sports versions.
A very special “sports version” of a small car is now being auctioned in Great Britain: a Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 from 1984. The little Frenchman is expected to fetch a proud price at the auction.

Homologation model: Only 200 copies of the Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 were built
The Peugeot being auctioned on the Iconic Auctioneers platform is anything but an ordinary vehicle.
According to the description, it is a Peugeot 205 Turbo 16, which served as a homologation model for a Group B rally car.
Only 200 were built.
Homologation models are road-legal vehicles that are actually only produced in a certain number so that a racing or rally vehicle can compete in a certain class.
Peugeot 205 Turbo 16: Wide wheel arches and engine in the rear
At first glance, at least a layperson might not necessarily notice that the vehicle being auctioned is anything particularly special.
However, if you look closer, you will see the greatly widened wheel arches and air inlets in front of the rear fenders - and of course they also have a purpose.
Because the engine in this special version of the 205 is actually located in the rear.
The engine is a 1.8-liter in-line four-cylinder with an output of 197 hp.
In combination with the low weight and the built-in all-wheel drive, the Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 achieved impressive acceleration values for the time, sprinting to 100 km/h in around 6.5 seconds and reaching a top speed well beyond 200 km/h.

Little run: “Rally Peugeot” with only 16,000 kilometers on the clock
The vehicle now on offer is number 176 of 200. The little classic car has just 16,000 kilometers on the clock - and according to the description, the Peugeot was last serviced by a Porsche specialist and received a new clutch.
Like all other 199 models built, this example 176 was painted in Winchester Gray.
Because construction had to be quick, the French decided to build all examples with the same specifications.
Anyone who is interested in the power dwarf should have a well-filled account: the minimum bid is the equivalent of around 275,000 euros.
It remains to be seen whether the “Rally Peugeot” will bring in the expected sum – or perhaps even significantly more – at the auction on February 24th.
Rare vehicles can actually sell for extreme sums, such as a rare Ferrari 412P that changed hands last year.
Sometimes, however, the result remains significantly below expectations - as was the case some time ago with a former company car belonging to Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher.
