Punctually the readers of the authoritative German periodical Auto Motor und Sport chose the best cars for 2024. 92,798 readers participated in the 48th edition of this survey and chose the 'Best Cars' from a panel of 455 cars divided into 13 classes , with a distinction between German models and imported models.
It stands out among the entire placement of Alfa Romeo which dominated the respective category rankings with the three models Giulia, Stelvio and Tonale.
By way of comparison, no import brand has achieved this result and ahead of Alfa, with four class winners, only the German Mercedes came in with the Class C, Class E, Class S and Class G models.
Confirmation of the approval of the cars made in Italy by German customers and enthusiasts, who assigned first place among the small cars both in the general ranking and in that of the imported models to the Abarth 595, also in the 695 version. It was decreed that the Lamborghin Urus is the best luxury SUV among the imported ones.
Here are the winners declared by the readers of Auto Motor und Sport with the relative percentages within the categories.
In the A Mini Cars (general classification and imports) the Abarth 595/695 ranked first with 17.9% and 21.8% of the preferences respectively.
In the general B small cars ranking the Volkswagen Polo won (17.6%) and in the B small cars import ranking the Skoda Fabia (16.0%).
First in the general C Compact Cars classification is the BMW 2 Series Coupé (13.0%) and among the imported ones the Skoda Octavia (15.5%).
For the readers of Auto Motor und Sport the best 2024 D Medium car car in the overall rating is the Mercedes C-Class (13.7%) and among the imported ones the Alfa Romeo Giulia (21.5%).
Among the medium-high E cars, the Mercedes E-Class (15.2%) won in the general classification and the Volvo S90/V90 pair (17.5%) won the imported ones.
In the F class, the Mercedes S-Class came first in the general evaluation (17.4%) and in the imported ones the Bentley Continental GT (34.1%).
Porsche dominates in the G-Class sports cars. The 911 (32.7%) excelled in the overall rating while the Alpine A110 (10.0%) won among the imported models.
Double in the Discovery Sports cars with the 911 Cabrio and Targa (18.3%) alongside the Mazda MX-5 / RF import models (9.8%).
Volkswagen ID.Buzz (20.3%) won the Category I Van i in the overall classification and Hyundai Staria (23.9%) that of the imported models.
Among the Small SUVs/Crossovers, the overall victory went to the Volkswagen T-Roc (15.6%) and among the imported ones, the Volvo EX30 (15.3%).
Of note is the first place obtained in the general classification in the hotly contested L-Class of compact SUVs/off-road vehicles of the BMW X1 (7.9%) flanked among the imported models by the Alfa Romeo Tonale (8.9%).
In those of Class M, large SUVs/off-roaders Porsche won in the general opinion with Macan (11.5%) and Alfa Romeo Stelvio (10.4%) in the imported ones.
Finally, the success of the Mercedes G-Class (14.7%) in the N-Class luxury SUV/off-road vehicle (overall evaluation) and of the Lamborghini Urus (12.9%) in the imported ones.
