In Israel there is no intention to replace the song or change its lyrics.

Earlier today (Thursday), the Minister of Culture and Sports Miki Zohar sent a letter to the President of the European Broadcasting Union, which trusts Eurovision, Noel Curran, and to his deputy Jean-Philippe de Tender requesting to approve the Israeli song "October Rains" chosen by the corporation to represent Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest the nearest

"As you know, Israel is in one of its most complex periods," the minister wrote.

"Our people, made up of a variety of beliefs and backgrounds, experienced one of the brutal attacks on civilians in the world. We lost many loved ones and there are still women, children and men held captive by a terrorist organization."

The minister noted that the song is not political and does not talk about war or conflict, but rather expresses the feelings of the people: "A moving song, discussing renewal and resurrection, from a very fragile reality of loss and destruction - describing the current public sentiment in Israel these days."

The minister also points out that the Eurovision contest represents more than anything the power of culture and music - and that he trusts that they will continue in your important task of keeping it free from any maneuvers or political considerations.

"Israel Hayom" published this morning (Thursday) the lyrics of the song that is causing a stir and it is alleged that his lyrics violate the competition regulations.

The last three lines of the song, which is mainly performed in English, are in Hebrew and describe the situation of the citizens of Israel in recent months: "There is no air left to breathe, there is no place, I am gone day by day."

And these are the words of part of the song:

"Evening, everything is black and white,

who was the fool who told you that boys don't cry

for hours on end and flowers,

life is not a game for cowards

meanwhile time passes

every day I'm going crazy

trying to last

forever

I'm still

October of rain"

the final line of the song refers To the murdered: "They are all good children, one by one."

From here it was reported yesterday in response: "The Israel Broadcasting Corporation is in dialogue with the EBU regarding the song that will represent Israel at Eurovision."
