The 1.6 petrol engine is in fact associated with two electric motors, namely a 36 kW (49 hp) engine and a high voltage starter/generator of the HSG (High-Voltage Starter Generator) type and with a multimode transmission with clutch with teeth without clutch.

This combination of electric motors and dog clutch transmission allows gear changes to be optimized and made more fluid.

This technology is based on a series-parallel architecture that allows you to combine the advantages of the different types of hybridization possible (series, parallel and series-parallel).

The motors are able to work independently or jointly by directing energy to the wheels or the battery.

The powertrain manages the engines and their contribution based on any acceleration or power needs, as well as battery regeneration needs.

This management involves 15 different combinations of operation between the engines and the gear ratios engaged.

During use, however, changes in operating modes are almost imperceptible and do not require any intervention from the driver.

The system automatically chooses the most suitable mode for the situation to best optimize emissions and consumption, while ensuring responsive and pleasant driving.

The technology also allows you to better optimize energy in the deceleration and braking phases.

When the driver takes his foot off the accelerator and the gear lever is positioned in Drive, the main electric motor acts as a generator.

It thus recovers the kinetic energy produced by deceleration by transforming it into electrical energy to be sent back to the battery.

To recover more energy, you can move the gear lever to the Brake position (B).

This increases regeneration, within the limits of battery charging, up to a minimum speed of around 7 km/h.

By pressing the brake pedal, the driver then initiates braking which is triggered by an electrical impulse and completed, if necessary, by the mechanical action of the brake pads.

Once again, the electric motor contributes to braking and can recover excess energy to send it back to the battery, within the limits of its storage capacity.

'B Mode' is particularly suitable for a car like the Jogger designed for families and leisure.

When the vehicle is loaded or towing a trailer, regenerative braking optimizes engine braking, a highly appreciated function in these driving conditions.
