The docu-film "No Other Land"/Bassel Adra
The Palestinian-Norwegian documentary "No Other Land", which deals with the communities of Safar Yatta in the West Bank and their struggle against Pinoyin by the IDF, won a prestigious award at the Berlin Film Festival. The film was co-produced without Israeli funding, but several of its producers are Israeli. The
film is signed by Bassel Adra .
_ Parts of the area where the villagers of Safar Yata live are considered fire ground, and for decades the local residents have been fighting against evictions, and about two years ago their petition to the High Court on the matter was rejected.
At the beginning of last year, the IDF announced its intention to evacuate from their homes about a thousand Palestinians living in the area.
The main prize of the festival, the Golden Bear, was won by another documentary film - the docu "Dahomey" by the French-Senegalese director Mathie Diop, which deals with the treasures of the kingdom of the same name that took place in the Benin areas of Today from the 17th century to the beginning of the 20th century - and in their return from France to Africa.
Amos Gitai's film, "It's not too late", came out empty-handed.
