While the EU has been implementing an anti-dumping strategy for months to stem China's economic dominance in various sectors, including that of zero-emission cars, Viktor Orban has announced the opening in Hungary of a Byd Company factory, one of the main producers of electric and hybrid vehicles in the world.
"The future of the automotive industry is written in Hungary. The largest electric car manufacturer in the world, BYd Company, is building its first European plant in Szeged", the Hungarian prime minister announced on X.
Orban met the leaders of the company founded in Shenzhen in Budapest.
“This multi-billion dollar investment promises technological change, creating thousands of jobs and benefiting local suppliers. The parties underlined that Hungary has been China's main investment destination in Central and Eastern Europe for years. Hungary has established a relationship with China stable relationship based on mutual respect, which every year records new records in economic and commercial cooperation", explained the spokesperson of the Hungarian government, Zoltan Kovacs, on social channels.
