China and the European Union held talks on progress and cooperation in a range of sectors, including automotive and raw materials. In a statement, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said Beijing "attaches great importance to bilateral cooperation in field of industry".
For this reason, China "is willing to work together with the EU to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and achieve common development," noted Xin Guobin, Vice Minister of Industry and IT.
The meeting was co-chaired by Xin and Kerstin Jorna, Director General of the EU Commission for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises.
Beijing, in particular, aims to avoid possible new frictions with Brussels, after those on electric vehicles and subsidies distorting competition in the EU's sights, due to the already substantial chapter of tensions opened on hi-tech trade with the United States.
