Former media personality Uzi Peled passed away today (Saturday) from cardiac arrest.

He was 86 years old. Peled was one of the founders of Israeli television in the early days of the Broadcasting Authority, he founded the media company Telad in 1973 and was its chairman.

He served as CEO of Telad including when it became one of three Channel 2 franchises in addition to Keshet and Reshet, from the channel's founding in 1993 until Telad lost the franchise in 2005.



In 1968, Peled was appointed the deputy of Eliyahu Katz, a communications professor who headed the founding team of Israeli television.

In 1972, together with Avshalom Katz, he founded the Telad company, which gained momentum in the 1980s with television studios and productions for Israeli and educational television, as well as film productions, commercials and service broadcasts.



Telad was the franchisee that opened the commercial Channel 2 broadcasts on November 4, 1993, and produced and broadcast programs such as "The Chamber Five", "The Comedy Store", "Katser", "Ha Haim is not everything", "Florentine", "Ramat Aviv C" , "Ovda" with Ilana Dayan, "Lila Gov", "The Cheeks" and "World Journey" presented by Eyal Feld, son of Uzi.

With the renewal of the tender in 2005 for two franchises, Telad lost its place in the commercial channel, and Peled retired from his position as CEO.



In addition, Peled was the CEO of the Institute for Applied Social Research in Jerusalem, was a lecturer in communications and business administration at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Technion in Haifa.

He even served as chairman of the Herzliya Cinematech.



Peled left behind four children and two grandchildren. His funeral will be held on Sunday at 3:00 PM at the Right Rest Cemetery in Kfar Saba.
