Elon Musk, the owner of Tesla, published yesterday (Saturday) a new video of the robot Optimus (or Tesla Bot) - and caused an uproar on the Internet.
In the impressive video, the robot can be seen walking independently for one minute and 18 seconds.
Musk shared the clip on the social network X (Twitter) under the title "Optimus walks around the lab".
As of this writing, the video has garnered over 70 million views.
As expected, the responses online were not slow to arrive.
One user wrote, "Can't wait to see them working in supermarkets, sorting merchandise and operating cash registers."
Another user made a bold suggestion, "Maybe we'll see a robot olympics soon?".
First, the video was shared in extremely low resolution, so much so that it looks like it was shot on a Nokia phone from two decades ago.
After about half an hour in the air - the video was edited and the video clip was replaced with a high quality one.
As a result, the quality of the video has raised doubts about the true progress of the project, with some critics questioning Optimus' ability to perform more complex tasks.
Also, this isn't the first Optimus video to get attention.
Last month, Musk shared a video of the robot folding a shirt, which received nearly 300,000 likes.
At Tesla's annual AI event in 2022, Elon Musk unveiled the robot in question, based on the company's AI software.
The plan is to eventually produce millions of robots, for use in a variety of industries.
According to Musk's forecast, the availability will be in 2027 and the robot will cost about 20,000 dollars.
