When it comes to car tires, there are many good models, but also many bad models, as regular tests reveal.

The current summer tire test results at a glance.

The “O-to-O” rule of thumb serves as a motto for drivers when changing tires: Winter tires should be installed on the vehicle from October to Easter, and summer tires from Easter to October.

This also means that vehicle owners will soon have to change their tires again.

If you want to buy new summer tires at the same time, you can use current tests to find out which ones are considered safe.

The test has not yet been completed, but according to the testers, the following tires have already been sorted out because they were far from keeping up with the initial braking test on wet and dry roads:

Summer tires in the ADAC test 2023: The best and worst models

The ADAC also carried out an extensive – and completed – summer tire test for tire size 205/55 R16 last year.

A total of seven out of 50 models received a grade of “poor” and are therefore not recommended.

The best summer tires in the test come from Goodyear, Continental and Michelin.

Summer tires in the ADAC test 2024: Three models performed “good”.

A summer tire test from 2024 by the ADAC also refers to the tire size 215/55 R17.

It is primarily found on lower mid-range SUVs, but also fits mid-range vehicles.

It turns out: Continental and Michelin are once again ahead with their products and achieve a test grade of “good”.

The “Kumho Ecsta HS52” model was also able to secure the same grade.

There were no real failures in this test: another 12 out of a total of 16 tires tested all received a grade of “satisfactory”, only the “Vredestein Ultrac” model only managed a “satisfactory” rating.
