The path of electrification continues for the Opel range, which has opened orders in Italy for the new Astra Hybrid e-Dct6.
The new engine joins the range of petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid, electric and GSE sports versions and now benefits from 48-volt hybrid technology.
The system is one that includes a lithium-ion battery that automatically recharges under certain driving conditions and the new 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine developed specifically for the hybrid application.
This engine offers 100 kW/136 hp of maximum power and is combined with a new electrified six-speed dual clutch gearbox (e-Dct6) and a 21 kW/28 hp electric motor.
The electric motor allows you to drive at low speed in fully electric mode for a distance of up to one kilometre, for example when maneuvering or at less than 30 km/h in traffic.
It also assists the petrol engine during acceleration.
During deceleration, the petrol engine stops and the electric motor recharges the hybrid system's 48V battery via the regenerative braking system.
The new 48V hybrid engine on the Opel Astra is available to order in both the sedan and Sports Tourer versions with a list price starting from 31,900 euros.
