The cold case was hanging by a thread.
The one found on June 16, 2013 around the neck of a Bulgarian prostitute killed a few months earlier and abandoned without regard in a tent in Strasbourg, her hands tied behind her back and her body putrefied.
For years, the death of this Bulgarian woman remained an enigma.
From the start, however, the Strasbourg PJ police officers had identified a suspect.
Marginal, prostitute, drug addict, alcoholic and engaging in sadomasochistic practices, the man ticked all the boxes.
His cell phone was notably cut off on February 27, 2013, at the same time as that of the victim.
A date that was not insignificant.
It could, according to forensic expertise, correspond to that of the death of the Bulgarian prostitute.
