A man in his fifties, already convicted of sexual exhibition, will be tried for the attempted kidnapping of a 9-year-old child this weekend in Colmar, we learned on Tuesday from the prosecutor of the Republic, Jean Richert.
He was placed under judicial supervision and will be tried on April 25 for “intentional violence” and “attempted kidnapping of a 15-year-old minor,” said Jean Richert.
These acts are punishable by five years in prison.
The prosecution also requested a psychiatric assessment of the suspect, he said.
Already convicted of sexual exhibition
The events occurred on Saturday afternoon.
According to testimonies, he “pulled this child by the sleeve” to “bring him back to the common areas of the building where he resides”, according to the prosecutor.
It was a neighbor who intervened and dissuaded the child from following the fifty-year-old, he added.
According to the Actu17 website, she then alerted the mother, who lives in a neighboring building.
The latter would then have alerted the police, who arrested this 56-year-old man, the site further indicates.
