Highlights: Bodies of TV presenter and her boyfriend found four days after police officer charged. Remains found in surf bags “near the entrance to the property,” under a fence. Police focused their efforts on the Bungonia property after learning that Beau Lamarre had gone there in the white van that transported the bodies of the two men with an acquaintance last Wednesday. The case which has shaken Australia for almost a week is considered the first murder committed by a New South Wales police officer in several decades.

Australian police announced on Tuesday that human remains were found as part of the search for the missing couple in Sy

Two dead bodies were found near Goulburn (southwest of Sydney) while investigators were searching for Jesse Baird and Luke Davies, a couple who had been missing for more than a week in Australia.

The discovery came four days after the indictment of Beau Lamarre, a Sydney police officer, accused of killing her ex-boyfriend, a TV presenter, and his new partner.

Investigators said on Tuesday a crime scene had been established at a property in rural Bungonia, 160km southwest of Sydney.

“Today... at this location we believe we have located two bodies,” New South Wales Police Commissioner Karen Webb said.

“The families have been warned.

We're confident we've located Luke and Jesse.

In Australia, police officer charged with murder of TV presenter and her boyfriend

After initially refusing to cooperate with the investigation, the main suspect, 28-year-old Beau Lamarre, finally decided to reveal the whereabouts of the two bodies this Tuesday morning, police said.

Remains found in surf bags

The human remains were found in surf bags “near the entrance to the property,” under a fence, and attempts were made “to cover the bodies with rocks and debris.”

The two surf bags were used to transport the two bodies in a white rental van from Jesse Baird's home in Sydney's inner city, where the two men were believed to have been killed.

It was in this very home that the police found last week a bullet corresponding to Beau Lamarre's service weapon, alongside a significant quantity of blood and overturned furniture.

The case which has shaken Australia for almost a week is considered the first murder committed by a New South Wales police officer in several decades.

It has already given rise to a review of police officers' access to their firearms outside of duty hours, reports the BBC.

This macabre news story even led the organizers of the iconic Mardi Gras parade in Sydney, the equivalent of the “Pride March” in France, to disinvite the New South Wales police from this year's parade.

A controversial decision which triggered the incomprehension of the police, who denounced crimes “not linked to hatred of homosexuals”.
