“Your decision is eagerly awaited, this file is being watched closely by the entire art market,” warns Me Jean-Pierre Dagorne, advisor to a company specializing in the storage of works of art, in front of the 13th Paris correctional chamber, as the epilogue of the “Lupu affair” approaches.
Justice will then look into a similar case, that of the “forgeries of the Palace of Versailles”, still under investigation.
The Lupu deliberations will be delivered on April 22, the court announced, Monday February 26 in the evening, on the last day of a hearing that resembled a showdown.
The prosecution is not giving up and the defense is laying out the cards for an acquittal, in this case as unprecedented as it is shaky, since the main person involved, Jean Lupu, died at the end of October at the age of 93, therefore before the hearing.
