The damage is, fortunately, only material.
A major landslide took place during the night from Monday to Tuesday in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), chemin du Vallon Sabatier.
According to city services, who confirm information from local media to Le Parisien, around 500 m3 collapsed, ending their fall on a building and vehicles.
The landslide ended up falling on the premises of a transport company, causing damage to the building but also to vehicles located nearby.
According to Nice-Matin, a heavy goods vehicle as well as four cars were buried.
The city of Nice told Le Parisien that a residential building, located not far from the site of the landslide, was evacuated, even if it was not directly affected.
Seven people were relocated overnight by town hall services.
The bad weather of recent weeks probably to blame
“A design office was commissioned during the day to see if there are still risks of falls in this area,” explains the municipality.
If necessary, the relocated residents will not return to their homes immediately.
It is difficult to say at this time what the exact cause of the landslide is.
But the rains of the last few days and, above all, the very heavy rainfall which affected the region more than two weeks ago could have weakened the area, a representative of the municipality tells us.
The day before, a small landslide had already been noted on a city boulevard.
