The police have not yet found their bodies.

An American couple has been considered dead by authorities in Grenada for almost a week after the yacht they were on was hijacked by three fugitives, CNN reports.

During a press conference organized this Monday, February 26, a commissioner of the Royal Police of Granada affirmed that the two Americans had probably been thrown overboard after a fight with the three prisoners, on the run.

As a reminder, the three men aged 19 to 30 were arrested in December for “violent theft”.

The oldest of them was also charged with rape, attempted rape, sexual assault and violence.

They were detained in St. George, the capital of Grenada, from their arrest until February 18, when they escaped from their cell.

The police forces then began looking for them and immediately alerted their colleagues on the island of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, located around a hundred kilometers away.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines police managed to arrest the three men on the afternoon of February 21, around 4:30 p.m. local time, in the village of Petit Bordel, located in the northwest of the island. Caribbean.

The reconstruction of their escape by the police of the two islands made it possible to establish that they had left Grenada aboard a yacht which was parked in the port of Saint-Georges, to return to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

On board the boat were 71-year-old Kathy Brandel and 66-year-old Ralph Hendry.

According to investigators, the three fleeing men got rid of the bodies between the two islands.

The three suspects are accused of committing “several criminal acts, including causing bodily harm to the couple” while they were boating.

When authorities finally recovered the yacht, the condition of the premises appeared “consistent with acts of violence,” police said.

“Several objects were scattered on deck and in the cabin, and a red substance resembling blood was seen on board.

No body was discovered on board the yacht,” Grenadian authorities said.

Despite a “low probability”, they hope “that they will be found alive somewhere”, declared Don McKenzie, Grenadian commissioner in charge of the investigation.
