Samsung once again demonstrates its dominance in the global television market and for the 18th time in a row stands at the top of the industry's sales, with television sales percentages of almost a third of the international television market - according to a report by the international market research company Omdia.
This success is attributed to the company's QLED and OLED models, whose total cumulative sales of QLED TVs (including the new Neo QLED models) since their launch in 2017, crossed the 40 million unit mark.
In 2023 alone, total sales of QLED products reached 8.31 million units.
The new data shows that Samsung continues to lead the field of premium televisions, and in particular in the market of televisions larger than 75 inches, in a price range of over 2,500 dollars.
The company holds an impressive share of 60.5% of the sales market for televisions priced over $2,500, and at the same time maintains the lead in the market for televisions over 75 inches with a share of 33.9%.
In addition, and especially thanks to the strong sales of the 98-inch models, it also maintains a lead in the over 90-inch TV market with 30.4% of the market share.
In the OLED field, in 2023 the company's television line recorded sales of 1.01 million units, with a market share of 22.7%, while the expansion of OLED products in 2024 is expected to yield another jump in the company's share.
"We are proud to be recognized as the global TV market leader for 18 consecutive years, and see this as a statement of trust and continued loyalty from our customers," said Suk Woo-yong, president and head of the Visual Display Division at Samsung Electronics.
"We have a deep commitment to the promotion and development of the industry. Beyond the enormous improvement in image quality, we are also interested in offering meaningful and valuable experiences."
According to a report published in April 2023, the Chinese manufacturer TCL overtook LG for the first time and lost a market share of 11.7% compared to LG - which dropped to third place with 11.6%.
