Maserati unveils the GranCabrio, an open-top variant of the GranTurismo which, at the time of launch, is offered in the Trofeo trim level, and is equipped with the 3.0-litre twin turbo 6-cylinder Nettuno combustion engine that delivers 550 HP of power.

Developed 100% by Maserati, the GranCabrio was built with a modular architecture body made up of light materials such as aluminum (over 65%) and magnesium, combined with high-performance steels, to contain the increase in 100 kg in weight compared to the GranTurismo from which it takes its elegant lines.

The design, in fact, is defined by the purity of the shapes and the classic proportions typical of the brand's cars;

specifically, the four fenders intersect with the long bonnet and the central body.

The fabric roof does not alter the line in the closed position, and when opened highlights the luxury of the passenger compartment.

The canvas soft top, available in five colours, black, blue marine, titan grey, greige, and grenade, opens in 14 seconds and closes in 16 seconds, via the touch button on the central display, or via gesture control, up to a speed of 50 km/h.

With the car open, a blast of hot air, activated via a button, comes out of the seats to envelop the driver and passenger.

This device is standard on all models, while among the options we find a wind stopper, which can be folded manually in the boot, to be used when 2 people are traveling with the roof open, since it must be mounted behind the front seats.

Analyzing the interior, the mix between the Italian artillery tradition and technological innovation is evident, with the color combination that underlines the design of the dashboard.

The front seats are sporty and comfortable at the same time, with integrated headrests, while the rear ones, also very welcoming, reflect the look and finishes that recall those of the dashboard.

Overall, the multifunctional steering wheel stands out with the start/stop button on the left and the rotor that allows the choice of driving mode and the activation of the (optional) air suspension on the right, accompanied by the dark satin aluminum gear levers.

There are three displays on board, in addition to the 12.2-inch one for the digital instruments, which can be customized with 4 different layouts, we find the 12.3-inch central screen, and the 8.8-inch comfort display.

There is also a head-up display, which projects data onto the windshield, while the watch becomes digital, presents 3 different screens, allows you to view the compass, G-force, accelerator and stopwatch, and offers the possibility of interact with the car using voice commands.

Furthermore, thanks to the Maserati Intelligence Assistant, based on the Android Auto operating system, it is possible to store up to five different user profiles, connect two phones simultaneously via Bluetooth, while passengers can take advantage of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to use phone apps wirelessly.

Among the accessories, the Sonus faber High Premium audio system is also available with 16 speakers, two-dimensional and three-dimensional surround, and powerful amplification that reaches up to 1060 watts.

Under the bonnet of the GranCabrio houses the 3000 cc twin turbo six-cylinder, which, on the Trofeo variant, delivers 550 HP, and features a patented pre-chamber combustion technology, derived from F1 engines, called MTC (Maserati Twin Combustion).

The engine in question is equipped with cylinder deactivation and, compared to the Nettuno engine of the MC20, has a wet sump and no longer a dry sump.

Furthermore, all GranCabrios are equipped with All-Wheel-Drive transmission, with the front differential positioned in line with the engine, which produces benefits in terms of driving dynamics.

The Trofeo variant with the thermal engine allows the driver to choose between four different driving modes called, respectively, Comfort, GT, Sport, Corsa, as well as the ESC-Off mode, which allows any electronic control to be excluded.

These are activated via the rotary control on the steering wheel, and the GT is the default for balanced behavior between comfort, efficiency and dynamism.

The performance is that of an authentic supercar, with a sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, acceleration from 0 to 200 km/h in 12.2 seconds, and a top speed of 316 km/h. h.

At the level of driving aids, the active lane keeping system is enriched by Emergency Lane Keeping, which protects occupants with very decisive steering maneuvers in situations of imminent collision.

With Dynamic Road View, the digital instrumentation highlights the 3D reconstruction of surrounding cars, while with rear emergency braking during reversing maneuvers the GranCabrio brakes automatically in the event of a risk of collision.

Finally, through the Virtual Wall, the driver is helped in parking maneuvers thanks to the obstacles detected by the rear parking sensors, which are shown in the form of virtual blocks that change color depending on the proximity to the vehicle.
