“They are not approved, they come in a van so as not to be checked but it is no longer legal to drive in the forest,” warns Sylvain Crétel, deputy head of department for the French Biodiversity Office (OFB) of Oise, the environmental police.
When there is a sign or a blocked path, it is prohibited, even if the barrier is open.

Just like among elected officials, the motorcycle group rodeos in the countryside put the OFB and the police on alert.
For Commander Christophe Jacques, head of the Chantilly company, the already known phenomenon is gaining momentum again after a pause due to Covid.
“But we didn’t necessarily see groups as large as now,” he notes.
