Two international productions that were supposed to be staged soon - were postponed at the last minute because of the war in Gaza.

"In the last few days, we suddenly received a 'hold' from agencies from England and the United States that represent the owners of the rights of a musical and a play that were already on the verge of being closed to be staged in Israel," revealed Danny Weiss, CEO of Bhima for six months, in a meeting with journalists to present Bhima's repertoire for 2024. 25. "I will not give all kinds of political interpretations to this situation," Weiss added. "No one told us 'Israel is marked' and such.

There were statements: 'We are in conflict', 'The situation is complex', 'Israel is in a problematic security situation', 'Let's talk again in 2025' and such.

This is a rather unprecedented situation, which I have not come across."

"There is a perfect storm here, that everything that can go wrong - does go wrong," Weiss added. In addition to the difficulties caused by the Gaza war, including the shutdown of the theater for the first month and a half of the war, the theater was also harmed by the fact that, starting from On January 1st, the Robina Hall - the main hall of the stage, which has 920 seats - was closed and is undergoing renovations due to safety needs that are expected to last until November 1st, and the theater is content with smaller replacement halls - the Smolrash Hall at Tel Aviv University, the Dohal Hall in Hatikva neighborhood and the Eretz Israel Museum hall. "The three alternative halls together have 40 percent of the contents of the Robina Hall," Weiss said, "Robina produces about 25 million shekels a year and the other three halls together are expected to produce 10 million."

And what about the new repertoire? Presided over by Prime Minister Golda Meir in the shadow of the Agrant Committee deliberations, written by Moti Lerner and directed by Moshe Kaptan, as well as the play "Shelter Stories", which consists of nine short stories written by nine playwrights that take place in shelters in Israel just after an alarm sounds.
