Trailer "Relax" - Season 11/HBO
The comedian and actor Richard Lewis (76), who starred in Larry David's "Calm Down" series in his own role in recent years, passed away at the age of 76 as a result of a heart attack.
This was reported without media in the United States.
In April 2023, he revealed that he had Parkinson's disease in 2021 and announced his retirement from stand-up.
Larry David released a statement saying: "Richard and I were born three days apart in the same hospital and for most of my life he was like a brother to me. He was a rare combination of the funniest and most loved person. Today he made me cry and for that I will never forgive him ".
Lewis began his career as a stand-up comedian in the 1970s, although in the 1980s he gained much publicity following dozens of appearances on David Letterman's Light Night show.
Lewis has played in many series and movies, including "Robin Hood: Men in Hats" and "Leaving Las Vegas."
Since 2000, he has been playing the role of himself in the series "Calm Down" created by Larry David.
The two are also friends in reality.
About a year ago, as mentioned, Lewis announced his Parkinson's.
In a video he uploaded to social networks, Lewis talked about the 12th season of "Calm Down".
He said he was so "grateful" to be a part of this show.
He later said that about two years ago he started walking "a little stiffly", which led him to decide to go to a neurologist who examined him, did a brain scan and diagnosed him with Parkinson's.
"I was diagnosed with the disease at a late stage in my life. I'm receiving the right medication and I'm fine. I just wanted to let you know what happened to me."
Finally, he said that he decided to retire from the stand-up field because of this: "I am focusing on writing and acting. I am being treated by the doctors and everything is fine. I love my wife, my dog, my friends and my fans."
