The Fiat Panda - the iconic model of Stellantis, market leader in Italy and Europe, with over 8 million units sold in its history - will continue to be produced in the Italian plant in Pomigliano d'Arco, Campania, at least until 2027. Production in factory will increase from mid-March by around 20% to meet demand in Italy and Europe.
This was announced by Olivier Francois, CEO of Fiat and global marketing director of Stellantis, in a press conference at the Campania factory where the Panda has been produced since 2011.
Fiat has unveiled the new FiatPandina special series.
The presentation date of 29 February was chosen to pay homage to the historic launch of the first Panda in 1980, presented to the President of the Republic Sandro Pertini on the same date.
"The new Fiat Pandina - explained Francois - is a tribute to the Italians' love for the Panda. Pandina is the nickname with which Italians have always called it. I am proud to present this special series on a special day, in fact, I can also announce that Panda will continue to be produced in Pomigliano d'Arco until at least 2027. The love story between Panda and Italy will thus continue for many years to come thanks to new investments that have made it the most technological and safe ever. also another reason to celebrate the Panda: we have in fact decided to increase production by 20% to satisfy customer demand in Italy and Europe. The Panda continues to be the market leader in Italy and segment leader in Europe: it is also the only A-segment hybrid of the group".
Equipped with new advanced driver assistance systems (Adas), a new digital dashboard and a new steering wheel, the Pandina special series - said Olivier Francois - is safer and more technological.
It will be available starting this summer in the main European countries.
In 2023, 215,000 cars were produced in Pomigliano, of which 132,700 Pandas.
There are 4,300 workers, solidarity ended in January.
