A hunting trip that turns into drama.
A 46-year-old hunter lost his life on Saturday February 24 after being attacked by a wild boar in the Double forest in the commune of Saint-Barthélémy-de-Bellegarde (Dordogne), according to Sud Ouest.
The man died of a heart attack after the attack while on his way home.
It was during a big game hunt organized in this Périgord forest that the forty-year-old was struck, knocked to the ground and crushed by an 80 kg sow.
The fight scene between the man and the animal lasted around ten minutes, before the beast fled.
Injured, the man returned around midday to the hunting lodge where he felt pain in his chest.
It was when returning by car, in the passenger seat of the vehicle driven by his wife, that the man suffered a heart attack.
Despite the rapid intervention of a fellow hunter and former firefighter who gave him a cardiac massage, followed by the intervention of the emergency services, the hunter could not be resuscitated.

Hit by another hunter's shot
A tragedy which comes less than three weeks after a dramatic accident which occurred during a wild boar hunt in Verrières (Orne).
On February 4, a 42-year-old man who worked as a beater died after being hit by another hunter's shot.
Wounded in the stomach, the forty-year-old died on the spot despite the intervention of firefighters and Smur.
During the 2022-2023 season, hunting accidents caused the death of six people in France, including none who were non-hunters, according to the report at the end of August from the OFB (French Office for Biodiversity).
Figures which confirm that hunting accidents remain at “historically low” levels.
