Hyundai is focusing heavily on electric, also with regards to the N range, the one dedicated to sports models, to the point that the cars with thermal fuel designed for performance and engaging driving dynamics will be abandoned, as reported by carscoops.com.
In fact, in a statement to the site in question, the Korean company admitted that from February the production of internal combustion N models for the European market would end, according to the philosophy of the brand committed to having zero-emission vehicles in its range by 2035 .
The same manufacturer would have added that technological developments will make electric vehicles even more attractive in the future.
The Ioniq 5 N is the pioneer car in this construction direction, the one that paved the way for the use of electric power for the brand's high-performance cars.
Its arrival, however, coincided with the end of the i30 N and the i20 N, models that convinced with their technical and dynamic characteristics, placing the Hyundai name in a new position compared to the brands best known for the creation of high-end sports cars. segment B and C.
The i30 N was the first N to arrive on the market and its 280 HP 2-liter engine, coupled to a 6-speed manual or dual-clutch automatic gearbox, and a front limited-slip differential, made it a worthy rival of cars such as the Volkswagen Golf GTI, the Renault Megane RS and the Honda Civic Type R. While the i20 N, with the 1.6 supercharged engine producing around 200 HP, was a challenging opponent for cars such as the Volkswagen Polo GTI, and the Ford Fiesta ST.
