In February, 147,094 cars were registered in Italy, 12.8% more than in the same month of 2023. In the first two months of the year there were a total of 289,103 registrations, with a growth of 11.7% over the same period in 2023. The data I'm from the Ministry of Transport.

Stellantis does better than the overall market in Italy with 48,747 car registrations in February, 17.3% more than the same month in 2023. The market share rises from 31.8% to 33.1%.

In the first two months of 2024: the group's registrations were 98,083, 15.3% more than the same period in 2023 and a market share increasing from 32.8% to 33.9%.

"The growth in February compared to the same month in 2023 is due to several factors. The first is the extra working day for the leap year. The second is the positive effect of the incentives in force since January for cars with CO2 emissions from 61 to 135 grams per kilometer which saw the allocation of 120 million run out in the blink of an eye. The third factor is an increase in car registrations to be allocated to the zero kilometer market and among these many electric cars which are difficult to sell. A fourth factor, finally, is the fact that buyers who do not need incentives are, slowly but steadily, recovering from the sharp decline of the first post-crisis years".

This was stated by Gian Primo Quagliano, president of the Centro Studi Promotor.

"However, potential buyers of cars with CO2 emissions from 0 to 20 grams per kilometer and with CO2 emissions from 21 to 60 grams per kilometer and with CO2 emissions from 21 to 60 grams per kilometer are not responding to the call for recovery - he observes. Since January incentives have already been available for these cars too, but the The use of the appropriations has been completely insignificant because potential buyers are awaiting the much more substantial incentives announced by the government and for which at the moment there is no reliable information on the possible date of entry into force".

From the monthly economic survey on the car market conducted on dealers at the end of February, it emerges that the main factor holding back the car market is the uncertainty about the type of car to purchase due to the measures adopted by the EU for the ongoing energy transition.

Among the factors slowing down sales are concerns about the economic situation and the high prices reached by cars.

However, dealers are moderately optimistic about the development of the market in the coming months.

33% of those questioned believe that sales will increase, while 49% expect stability at current levels and 18% expect a decrease".
