This is not the scenario of an animated film but what happened this Wednesday morning on the A13, in Eure.

This Wednesday morning, “a heavy goods vehicle carrying poultry overturned on the A13 near St Mards de Blacarville” in the Caen-Paris direction, announced the Eure prefecture on X.

The vehicle ended up lying on the side of the road.

The 4,500 battery chickens that were being transported escaped and ended up running loose on the highway.

The driver slightly injured

A section of the highway was closed for a large part of the day.

“The A13 is closed in the direction Caen -> Paris near Toutainville to allow the lifting of heavy goods vehicles,” the prefecture indicated on also the authorities.

Traffic resumed this afternoon, around 4 p.m.

“Traffic on the A13 in the Caen - Paris direction is resuming,” announces the prefecture.

The fleeing poultry were recovered and “replaced in a heavy goods vehicle”.

According to our colleagues from France 3 Normandy, the driver was slightly injured and was transported to the Pont-Audemer hospital center.

The circumstances of the accident are not yet known.
