Elon Musk wanted to lead OpenAI, merge it with Tesla.

OpenAI thus responds to the legal action initiated by the owner of Tesla against the start-up which owns ChatGPT, accusing it of having renounced its original mission of the company by giving priority to profits instead of the development of a technology for the benefit of humanity.

"While we were talking about a for-profit company to carry out our mission, Elon wanted us to merge with Tesla or he wanted full control", explains OpenAI on its blog, publishing a series of emails that seem to contradict Musk's accusations "It's sad that came to this with someone we deeply admired, someone who inspired us and then told us we would fail, started a rival company, and then sued us when we started to succeed without him,” OpenAI says on its blog.

“We are focused on advancing our mission and still have a long road ahead of us,” adds OpenAI, reiterating its commitment to continuing its original mission.

“Our mission is to benefit all of humanity with artificial general intelligence,” notes OpenAI.
