Ford E-Transit Custom MS-RT, sporty grit thanks to 285 HP - Commercial Vehicles

Highlights: Ford E-Transit Custom MS-RT, sporty grit thanks to 285 HP - Commercial Vehicles. It is not the first time that a commercial vehicle manufacturer has created a special racing-inspired version of one of its vans. All engines feature wider wheel arches, exclusive 19-inch anthracite alloy wheels (they are half an inch wider than those of the Transit Custom Sport) and help to increase the total track by more than 50 mm. The 235/45 R19 Goodyear Eagle Sport tires also stand out.

But what Ford has done today - taking advantage of the MS-RT brand - has made the Transit Custom 'unique' (which is joined by a similar variant of the Ranger pick-up) is even more interesting.

This is because it is not just about aesthetic or finishing interventions but in this case it concerns aspects linked to behavior - such as the set-up and tires - and in the case of the 100% electric version also an increase in power output.

Derived from the latest generation E-Transit Custom platform, this electric variant in MS-RT trim becomes - we read in the note - "the Transit Custom with the highest power ever" given that the unit now delivers 210 kW, i.e. 285 HP, therefore well beyond the output of the work model, offered with settings of 100 and 160 kW, 136 and 217 HP respectively.

Ford Transit Custom MS-RT is however offered, with the same aesthetic and dynamic contents, with the 150 HP 2.0 liter EcoBlue diesel engine with 6-speed manual gearbox and front-wheel drive, or 170 HP with 8-speed automatic transmission and with intelligent all-wheel drive.

A 232 HP plug-in hybrid variant is also expected which uses a 2.5 liter petrol engine and an 11.8 kWh battery.

On the outside, Transit Custom MS-RT stands out for its new aerodynamic front shield with integrated spoiler, sporty side skirts to visually lower the overall stance of the vehicle and a sporty rear shield that includes an integrated diffuser.

There is also a rear spoiler at the rear that extends from the roof towards the sides.

It is inspired by motorsports and has been optimized for airflow using advanced computer simulations.

It comes in a split version for vans with separate loading doors.

The E-Transit Custom MS-RT electric model also has an LED light strip that joins the headlights transversally.

“We are delighted to add the MS-RT models to our Ford Pro range – said Hans Schep, general manager of Ford Pro Europe – offering an attractive top option for customers who need a commercial vehicle but also want to highlight through the vehicle who use their own business. More and more customers want a work vehicle for the week but something that supports their lifestyle on the weekend."
