The 100% electric Kia EV9 SUV has been named Women's Worldwide Car Of The Year (Wwcoty) for 2024 by a jury of 75 automotive journalists representing 52 countries from five continents.
The announcement came when it is already March 8th in New Zealand (home of the organizing committee), i.e. International Women's Day.
Kia EV9 prevailed in the final phase of the annual event over the other 4 finalists, who had been classified in recent days as the best cars in their respective categories.
That is, the Volvo EX30 among the family models, the BMW 5 Series among the large models, the Volkswagen Amaro among the 4x4s and pick-ups and finally the Aston Martin DB12 among the exclusive models.
Before casting their vote, the 75 journalists tested 63 car models, chosen for the Wwctoy award, carefully evaluating every aspect.
"This year's voting was particularly difficult due to the excellent level of all the candidates - says Marta Garcia, executive president of Wwcoty - Each of the finalist models had sufficient merit to win the title".
After careful analysis, the overwhelming majority verdict, we read in the note, saw the Kia EV9 as the winner, having already won the SUV category.
"Kia EV9 won over its rivals - commented Garcia - because it is a model capable of satisfying consumer needs in every situation".
Capable of accommodating up to seven people - states the jury - Kia EV despite its considerable length of 5 meters, excels in terms of aerodynamics, contributing to its high performance.
Furthermore, EV9 features a cutting-edge design and incorporates advanced technologies including bidirectional charging and ultra-fast charging functionality.
