The resemblance to the real Jeep Wrangler is impressive (with the 'trick' of a different number of vertical bars in the nose) and in India the new Mahindra Thar Earth Edition costs four times less.
And it's wowing enthusiasts in that vast and vibrant market thanks to some unique styling touches inspired by sand dunes.
Mahindra Thar Earth Edition is available exclusively in Desert Fury satin matte shade which is paired with specific decals, black Mahindra emblems and special Earth badge on the B-pillars.
I As with other versions of the 4x4 Thar, this special edition rides on 18-inch alloy wheels shod with off-road tyres.
Inside, the Indian manufacturer offers seats covered in beige synthetic leather with a motif inspired by the dunes in relief on the headrests and frames of the climate vents matching the color of the exterior.
There are two versions of the Thar Earth Edition, all 'thermal': a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing 152 HP or a 2.2-litre diesel engine producing 132 HP).
In both cases, power is sent to all four wheels (other non-Earth Edition Thars are also RWD) via a manual or automatic gearbox.
Mahindra Thar Earth Edition has a price in India between the equivalent of 18,600 and 21,300 dollars depending on the engine while the real Jeep Wrangler starts from 75,560 dollars.
