The sustainable management of the tires of freight transport fleets - the periodic control and the retreading and regrooving activities - has effects on the environment, but also on the safety and profitability of companies.

In fact, it allows you to reduce fuel consumption and save raw materials.

For this reason, for the third consecutive year, Michelin Italia.

the largest tire manufacturer in Italy, has awarded a Certificate to 29 freight transport fleets with over 9,000 trucks.

"Michelin is very rooted in Italy and Piedmont with its headquarters in Turin and factories in Cuneo and Alessandria. The objective we have set ourselves is to reach zero emissions in 2050, with an intermediate objective of -50% compared to 2010 which we are already almost there", explained Marco Do, communications and external relations director of Michelin Italia.

The 29 fleets that received the certificate - underlined Arianna Bianchi, marketing director of Michelin's truck section - saved a total of 3,355 tonnes of CO2.

the equivalent of the annual emissions of a fleet of 83 trucks.

and 1,224 tons of raw materials, the amount of resources needed to produce approximately 17,500 tires.

In 2024, the fleets monitored were 74 companies for a total vehicle fleet of approximately 26,500 trucks.

"The certificate for the sustainable management of tires is generating a lot of interest even among companies that are not affiliated with Michelin Servizi e Soluzioni and manage the retreading and regrooving operations independently. Also thanks to the collaboration with Dekra, the certificate can be therefore also extended to these fleets. I also want to stimulate other players in the sector", explained Enrico Spinelli, Michelin sales manager.
