Having been helped on the motorway twice in the space of four hours because he ran out of diesel, he stole the tow truck and fled with his vehicle still attached.
This is what happened yesterday along the A1 in the Arezzo area, according to what was reconstructed by the Arezzo police who then intervened with the officers from the Battifolle subsection of the highway.
According to what was explained, around 3 am a patrol was sent to the A1 just before Valdichiana where, on the northbound carriageway, a lorry stopped in an emergency lane with its lights off was reported.
The vehicle was then towed off the motorway by a tow truck: the driver, identified as a twenty-year-old Italian, claimed to have run out of fuel.
A few hours later the Florence radio room on the highway contacted the same patrol again, directing it, for a similar intervention, a few kilometers further north than before.
The police found the same rescued vehicle stopped shortly before, still without fuel, still in the emergency lane and always driven by the same young man.
The latter then suddenly started driving the tow truck with his truck still attached and left.
When he was reached, he was reported for aggravated theft while his vehicle, still without fuel, was seized.
