The lifeless body of a 76-year-old woman was discovered Thursday morning "lying on the floor of the hall of the building where she resided", according to a press release from the Le Mans public prosecutor, Delphine Dewailly.
On his body there were "numerous traces of blows with a sharp object", specifies the press release, confirming information from the daily Ouest-France, according to which "the victim had his throat slit".
A 24-year-old man in police custody
The same day, shortly before noon, police officers from the Le Mans police station arrested, near the station, “an individual suspected of being the author of these acts”, continued Delphine Dewailly.
This 24-year-old man “is currently in police custody, which will be extended this (Friday) morning, in particular to clarify the circumstances and motivations of this act.

The young suspect has no family ties with the victim, specifies the prosecution.
But, according to Ouest-France, it would be a neighbor of the septuagenarian suffering from mental disorders.
