Salah Abdeslam would have done well without this return to a French prison.
After his sentence to irreducible life imprisonment in June 2022 in Paris, the sole survivor of the November 13 commandos was temporarily handed over to Belgium in order to be tried there for his involvement in the attacks of March 22, 2016 in Brussels .
And this, under an agreement between the Paris prosecutor general and the Belgian federal prosecutor providing for a deadline.
Once in Belgium, Salah Abdeslam took steps to stay there.
France opposed this, considering that it would contribute to distorting the sanction pronounced in France: irreducible life imprisonment does not exist among our neighbors.
