A state of mental health deemed “incompatible” with police custody.
A young suspect arrested Thursday, a few hours after the discovery in Le Mans of a septuagenarian woman stabbed to death in her building, was hospitalized in a psychiatric ward, the prosecution announced this Saturday.
His police custody is therefore lifted.
“The police custody to which the accused in this case was subject had to be lifted yesterday (Friday) during the afternoon, his state of mental health having been declared incompatible with this measure by a psychiatrist », Specifies in a press release the public prosecutor of Le Mans Delphine Dewailly.
The man, aged 24, “was immediately taken to a specialized establishment, where he is now forced to stay and receive care appropriate to his condition”.
“Many traces of blows”
Thursday morning, the lifeless body of a 76-year-old woman was found on the floor of the lobby of the building where she lived, in Le Mans.
His body bore “numerous traces of blows with a sharp object”, according to the prosecution.
The suspect in this murder was arrested by police near Le Mans station and taken into police custody.
