A serious accident occurred Saturday evening between Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) and Albi (Tarn).
Around 7:45 p.m., a car driving in the wrong direction on the A68 motorway north of the pink city hit another vehicle, moving in the right direction, near Castelmaurou (Haute-Garonne).
The collision caused a chain reaction, involving three other cars.
The toll is heavy: a 23-year-old man and a man in his seventies were killed.
The three other drivers were uninjured, according to the department's firefighters.
Twelve of them, as well as two emergency vehicles, were mobilized to help them.
The highway closed for a few hours
The motorway was closed between 8:30 p.m. and 12:15 a.m. to allow emergency services to intervene, as well as the A680, according to Vinci Autoroutes, between the Montastruc interchange (n° 3) and the Toulouse-Est barrier towards Toulouse .
It is currently unknown whether the septuagenarian is a man or a woman and whether he was at the wheel of the car traveling in the wrong direction, or whether he was driving correctly in his lane.
