Yehuda Zisafel, a businessman, investor, entrepreneur and musician, passed away this weekend at the age of 82. Zisafel, one of the founding fathers of Israeli high-tech, chairman of RAD and its owner, passed away 10 months after the death of his brother and longtime partner, Zohar Zisafel.



Yehuda, Born in Tel Aviv, he is a graduate of electrical engineering studies at the Technion and a master's degree in business administration from Tel Aviv University. Together with his brother Zohar, he founded the Red Binat group of companies that developed, manufactured and marketed solutions for the telecommunications and networking industry. Many of them were issued on NASDAQ and many of them were sold .

In a study conducted at Tel Aviv University, it emerged that over 200 additional technology companies left the group of companies they founded, which provided and provide work for many thousands of workers.



"Yehuda started his activity together with his brother in an era when he didn't know what a 'startup' was, but, in fact, they were the first Israeli startupists," says Udi Kashkash, CEO and president of RED. "Yehuda was a role model and inspiration for me and for many people in our industry.

He had a very rare combination of leadership, personal example, wisdom, foresight, initiative and vision, exceptional management and execution skills, hard work and dedication, musical talent as a player and composer, and above all - humanity."



At the same time as his business activities, Yehuda worked to promote technological education and reduce The disparities in society, while providing opportunities for youth from the periphery to gain an optimal education. Among the many projects he promoted, "Horizons for Hi-Tech" stood out, which was designed to enable combat soldiers who graduated from the IDF from the geographic and social periphery to gain a technological and scientific education. In his role as chairman of the electronics and software industries, Yehuda Zisafel initiated A project for older workers who have dropped out of the workforce, converting them into software engineers, and absorbing them in the high-tech industry.

"The issue of technological education and training must be on the national agenda," he made sure to say at every opportunity.



Yehuda and his brothers also took care of the institution that shaped their identity - the Technion.

They contributed to the establishment of a nanotechnology center at the Technion and even contributed to the construction of the Zisafel building for electrical and computer engineering. The two were awarded the Technion's badge - the most prestigious badge awarded by the institute for lifetime achievement for the Technion.



Yehuda, who played the violin in his youth, was a collector of musical instruments and even found time to compose of musical works. Through the "Red Association" he lent musical instruments to underprivileged students who excel in the field.



His funeral will be held on Monday, 11.3.24 at 15:00 at the Nachalat Yitzhak cemetery.
