The motion, promoted by Democratic Party councilors Lucia Parchitelli and Filippo Caracciolo, was approved unanimously, calling for recognition of the 1900s VespaPiaggio as Italian cultural heritage.
We therefore ask the Regional Council to take action, through the government, to ensure that the 20th century Vespa Piaggio is attributed "the historical, cultural and artistic expression of our country through the recognition of Italian cultural heritage".
"This motion, presented by me and my colleague Lucia Parchitelli - states the group leader of the Democratic Party, Filippo Caracciolo - aims to give the right value to what is not only a means of transport, but also an icon that has played a leading role in economic evolution , social and cultural heritage of our country at the turn of two centuries. Patented on 23 April 1946, the Vespa Piaggio has been exhibited in design museums around the world and entered the permanent collection of the prestigious MoMà in New York".
