A dramatic accident on the ocher earth of a Breton track.
A young 8-year-old boy lost his life this Tuesday following an injury sustained last Sunday during training on a motocross circuit in Plounérin (Côtes-d'Armor), reports Ouest-France.
The information was given by the club where the child was registered, then confirmed by the Saint-Brieuc public prosecutor's office.
According to the first elements of the investigation, the tragedy took place shortly before 4 p.m., during training during which the boy was accompanied by members of his family.
After gaining momentum to jump a bump, the child allegedly lost control of his 65 cc motorcycle before falling onto the track.
Another pilot who was following him did not have time to change his trajectory, and violently hit him.
Tributes paid
The young boy, who was wearing protective equipment, was in cardiorespiratory arrest.
He was treated by firefighters and then transported to hospital, but unfortunately did not survive his injuries.
The witnesses to this affair will be heard as part of the investigation, indicates Yoann Rantrua, commander of the Lannion gendarmerie company, to the regional daily.
On social networks, tributes have been pouring in since the death of the young boy, particularly from Breton motorcycle clubs.
A final farewell will be given to him next Friday at 10:30 a.m., at the church of Loudéac, where the young pilot was from.
He will then be exhumed in the cemetery.
