On the occasion of the recent event in which Porsche announced its global financial results, the arrival of 4 new models was announced, including the restyling of the brand's longest-running sports car, the 911. The news is that this car will not only receive the ritual updates, aimed at continuing the evolution that has made it, over the years, increasingly sharper in driving, but will see the introduction of a hybrid variant during the year.

As CEO Oliver Blume specified, it will be a high-performance variant, therefore a solution dictated mainly to strengthen the relationship of the car, and of Porsches in general, with the world of competition.

At the moment, it is not known whether there will be an electrified GT3, but it is clear that the experience gained in endurance racing with the 919 Hybrid and, since last year, with the 963 LMDh in the hypercar category, will have a bearing on the development.

According to www.autocar.co.uk, the car could be a 4-wheel drive with the electric motor dedicated to the front axle and the thermal engine at the rear.

Furthermore, it should have a small 48V motor-generator integrated into the dual-clutch automatic transmission, and would use the main engine as an extended range, also obtaining energy from regenerative braking.

Therefore, it should not need external charging, according to Autocar, avoiding the plug-in, but we are still at the level of official communications on the matter.

Clearly, compared to the car involved in the WEC, housed in the rear, cantilevered area, the famous 6-cylinder boxer, the flat six for enthusiasts, should remain in place of the twin-turbo V8 used by the 963 LMDh.
