He would be involved in at least five rapes and attempted rapes.
A man was arrested in Rennes, suspected of acts committed in the Breton capital over the last seven months, the Rennes prosecutor's office announced Wednesday evening.
Born in 2000 in Mamoudzou, in the department of Mayotte, the young man is suspected of having committed “a series of rapes or attempted rapes,” said public prosecutor Philippe Astruc.
These facts took place “for the most part on public roads (…) since September in Rennes”, according to the magistrate.
The man was arrested on Tuesday and taken into police custody, he said.
“A real relief”
“We are working at this stage on five facts” and the man “already recognizes (…) a certain number of them”, indicated Philippe Astruc.
His arrest is “a real relief”, he said, praising the “remarkable” work and the “meticulous investigation” of the “
morals
investigation group of the territorial crime division”, a police brigade.
