Volvo Buses, Volvo's subsidiary, will implement the safety systems to prevent distracted driving in its buses already on the production line. Estimate: The value of the deal, over NIS 10 million

Cybervan announced that it has signed an original equipment supplier (OEM) engagement agreement with Volvo's bus division.

As part of the agreement, the company will supply thousands of units of the system to prevent driving distractions for buses manufactured by Volvo at the company's plant in Mexico.

A market in which the Swedish manufacturer has a share of about 50%.

Volvo Buses, a subsidiary of the Volvo Group, produces about 5,800 buses every year, about 1,000 of them at the plant in Mexico.

In addition, the agreement also includes the supply of these systems to approximately 3,000 buses produced by the company that are already on the market and two years of exclusivity on marketing in Mexico, 12 months of service and support for the customers of the buses, after which the customers will continue to receive the service for a monthly fee.

The scope of the transaction is estimated at NIS 10 million.

Uri Gilboa, CEO of Cybervan, said: "We are very proud to cooperate with Volvo Buses.

This strategic agreement is a significant milestone for Cybervan's penetration into international markets and especially the Latin American market.

This is a huge step forward in our mission to reduce traffic accidents and we believe our system will play an important role in protecting bus passengers and other road users in Mexico.

We are excited about the positive impact our technology will have on the safety of drivers and passengers in the country."

This is the company's second contract with a heavy vehicle manufacturer after in October 2022 it signed a cooperation agreement with the Italian IVECO.

Cybervan's safety systems use DDPS technology, which identifies the driver's cell phone at the start of the trip and blocks access to applications that may cause distraction, including text messages, email, video, social networks, and more. And allows the use of navigation, call and audio applications. Unfortunately, This is a solution that is not intended for the private market and is not accessible to the private user, but is aimed at large vehicle fleets. Among the local companies that have already implemented the system are Tnuva, Strauss, Assem, the Electric Company, Sheltal, ICL (formerly Israel Chemicals), public transportation companies such as Electra Afikim as well as buses used to transport students in regional councils.

The company has another system that is currently in the stages of development and feasibility testing with a major car manufacturer called VRU, it uses cellular signal detection in order to identify and warn drivers of the proximity of vulnerable road users such as pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists, etc. The company also Joined the European Union's regulatory committee on distraction while driving a year ago.
