An investigation into murder was opened after the discovery on Wednesday of the body of a missing man, wrapped in duvets inside an abandoned apartment in Saint-Étienne, we learned on Thursday from the prosecution.
An autopsy scheduled for Friday should make it possible to confirm that it is “a 65-year-old resident of Saint-Galmier (Loire) who has been missing since February 14,” said the Saint-Étienne prosecutor's office.
An investigation opened for assassination
The disappearance, reported by his family, gave rise to the opening, on February 27, of a judicial investigation for arrest, kidnapping and sequestration.
The investigation, now open for assassination, has been taken over by the research section of the Lyon gendarmerie.
The decomposing body was found Wednesday afternoon by residents of a building in the Saint-Etienne district of Terrenoire, bothered by odors, in an abandoned apartment.
It was rolled up in two duvets, themselves tied by a rope which kept the whole thing tight, specifies the Saint-Étienne public prosecutor's office.
