Highlights: A 40-year-old father from Cugnaux, near Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), was sentenced this Thursday March 14 to 17 years in prison, including 11 years of probation. Posing as a young man, he allegedly manipulated 14 young girls, between September 2020 and June 2021, by encouraging them to have sex with friends or their little brother. “We are very happy that there is a security sentence. Because what mattered to the victims was that it stopped, that there were no more,” says lawyer for two victims.

A forty-year-old from Cugnaux, near Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), was sentenced this Thursday March 14 to 17 years in prison, including 11 years of probation.

On Wednesday, the attorney general, who described him as a “predator” and a “public danger”, requested 20 years of criminal imprisonment.

Finally, this repeat offender was sentenced this Thursday to 17 years in prison, accompanied by an 11-year security period before the Haute-Garonne criminal court.

“A relief” for Clémence Doumenc, lawyer for two victims from Toulouse and Lyon, at the end of a long trial, “where we went from horror to horror”.

“We are very happy that there is a security sentence.

Because what mattered to the victims was that it stopped, that there were no more.

14 young girls manipulated

Based in Cugnaux, on the outskirts of Toulouse, this 40-year-old father, who admitted the facts, used a fake profile on Snapchat to trap teenage girls.

Posing as a young man, he allegedly manipulated fourteen young girls, between September 2020 and June 2021, by encouraging them to have sex with friends or their little brother.

At that time, the forty-year-old had just been released from prison and was prohibited from having contact with minors.

“This individual has been convicted several times.

But even though he was on an electronic bracelet and on parole, he continued these acts by fooling the people responsible for monitoring him,” explains the lawyer.

He was in fact coming out of a seven-year prison sentence for gun violence against a minor.

For Clémence Doumenc, it is important that this person is “forced to take care of themselves”.

“He committed all possible offenses against minors: sexual proposition, corruption, sexual assault… Prison does not stop him and he does not need to be in contact with minors to commit these acts.

His withdrawal into himself seems very unauthentic,” she analyzes.
