He wanted to take justice into his own hands.
An owner denouncing the squatting of his apartment in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes) received Thursday the support of the mayor, Christian Estrosi (Horizons), after trying to intimidate the occupants of his accommodation.
“Is it normal when you come to squat at a gentleman's house that the mayor cannot immediately carry out the eviction himself?
», Lamented the councilor to BFMTV, who promised the owner to come and see the situation for himself.
Change of lock
Owner of a 60 m2 apartment on the Promenade des Anglais, Richard Stornello accuses his tenant of never having paid the rent and of having changed the lock the day after he entered the premises.
A lease would have been signed between the two parties, a police source told BFMTV, but the tenant would have refused to pay in cash, as demanded by the owner.
Richard Stornello is accused of having hired a henchman, paid 100 euros, to try to intimidate the tenant.
The latter's wife was reportedly threatened with rape.
Alerted, the police quickly arrested the owner.
“The police came and they told me
this gentleman is at home, you are the owner, you are not at home, you are at his house
.
They put handcuffs on my wrists and I spent 48 hours in police custody, in a hole,” he told BFMTV.
Placed under judicial supervision upon his release from police custody, Richard Stornello no longer has the right to approach his apartment, nor to speak to the tenant.
