Some new traffic signs were introduced in 2020.

But it is hardly used.

This sign is still relatively new and was only introduced as part of an amendment to the road traffic regulations in 2020.
Even if the representation is a bit confusing, the meaning is quite obvious: the additional sign stands for carpools with at least three people.

Originally, the traffic sign with the unwieldy name “Passenger cars or motorcycles with sidecars occupied by at least three people” was supposed to be given some special rights.

The aim was to reduce individual traffic and promote carpooling.
This should also make switching to a bike more pleasant.
But for fear of negative effects on local public transport, there was no approval for bus lanes.

However, it can be used by road traffic authorities when carrying out traffic tests.
However, the sign with three people in the car will probably remain a rare sight for now.
